Well here we go again with another flying season  With the Mall Show and the Swap Meet behind us. We are ready to start having fun with the best part of the hobby, FLYING.  Many of our members have Winter projects they will be showing off at the field this Spring..

 

 

Our 1^st Swap Meet was held March 31^st and it was a great success. We had dealers from Atlanta, Nashville, Ms. and Ky. All tables were taken. The door prizes were won by: James Elam, Donovan Henry, Jim Ray and Ernie Duffy - One year subscription to R/C Report. Donated by R/C Report.. Terry Sague won the airplane kit donated by HobbyTown USA, Florence. Robert Patterson won the giant Raceway also donated by HobbyTown USA, Florence. Richard Brooks won the gallon of fuel donated by Bill Greer. Congratulations to all winners and a big Thank You to those that donated prizes.

 

Because this event was much bigger than we expected we will be looking for a bigger facility for next year. 

 

The “PICK YOUR PRIZE” raffle also went very well. Paul Looney was the happy winner of the $200.00 Hobbytown USA gift card.

 

The club met it’s goal, which was, make enough money to sod our runway with Bermuda grass. The BOD met 4/3/07 and voted to spend $1000.00 on runway improvements.

 

 

 

Did you know, the Spread Spectrum radio system can not be shot down by another radio or other interference? When the radio is turned on it selects a clear frequency from among thousands that can not be controlled by the operator. Another great feature of this system is that you can not operate your plane on the wrong set-up, each receiver is dedicated to a specific plane and must be selected before the Tx and Rx can communicate.

Colbert Radio Control Flyers welcomes all persons interested in the hobby, to come join us or just come out to our field and watch us fly. If you are interested in learning to fly, our members will be more than happy to teach you the art of radio control flying using the buddy cord system. This method assures that you will get the best learning experience with the least chance of crashing your plane.

 

Come out to our field and meet us, we will help you decide which plane will be best to get you started. We will help in the assembly of you plane and set you up with an instructor that will stay with you until you feel you can handle your plane.

 

 

          Most people feel at ease after the first flight and are ready to try takeoffs and landing after several flights. Everyone is a little different, you could be doing solo flights in as little as a week, however you should expect to spend several sessions with an instructor.  Our flight instructors will insure that you feel confident before letting you fly on your own.

 

         Just a few words on the “advantage of joining a club.”

 

         I guess the biggest benefit is the fun of just being with people that share the same hobby. Next come the thrill of flying something you built or just put together. Then there is the important thing’s like liability insurance that protects everyone and everything around the flying area from any mishaps while flying. And of course there are all sorts of scheduled events to attend and participate in.
